The love of writing lived in me since my early teen years. I attended the College of Mass Media in Tehran, Iran and graduated with a degree in Journalism in spring 1980. During my studies I worked for Keyhan, a popular Persian daily newspaper.
In fall 1980, shortly after the Iran/Iraq war, I immigrated to the United States with my family, and have since lived in Glendale, California.
In 2005, I picked up writing once more. I found a new flame burning in my heart and started writing poetry, working with two wonderful writers, Carolyn Howard-Johnson (author of This is the Place, Harkening and the award winning How to do it Frugally Series, to name a few) and Mary Sojourner (author of Delicate, Bonelight, Sisters of the Dream and more),
I've presented two poetry chapbooks at the West Hollywood Book Festival along with a talented group of authors and poets in 2008 and The Los Angeles Times Book Festival in 2009 and 2010.
I attended classes at the UCLA Extension Writers' Program where I had the opportunity to work with great authors, Eve LaSalle Caram, Samantha Dunn, Linda Palmer and Stephanie Waxman.
In 2015 I published my first book Transplanted, A Journey of Enchantment and Disappointments. The novel, based on my nanny's accounts describes the living circumstances in Iran between 1920 and 1945. It's an excellent guide to Persian culture and traditions.
Soon after, I joined the writing program at the Chevy Chase Library in Glendale, CA. led by Jane Hancock, (author of Jungle Jenny and former director of the UCLA Writer's Program.)
In 2019, my second published book, War and Pierogi, came to life with the editorial help of the talented members of the CC Library writers' group. The story follows my mother's challenges in Siberian gulags during WWII.
Presently I'm working on my third book's manuscript about my father-in-law's struggles escaping the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
